Candlelit Mass at St Patrick's, Donegall St. - Sundays @ 6pm

6pm Sunday Candlelit Mass at St Patrick’s, Donegall Street, Belfast

Eucharist means ‘Thanksgiving’, and it is about connecting with the light that is Christ in our lives; it’s a message of hope and joy.

Meditative chant creates a reverent atmosphere in which you can really pray.

This may be the first time you have set foot in a church in a long time and so it is important to know that everyone is welcome.

The invitation is simple: to experience a place of light and peace, with an uplifting message. This is a moment of Christ centred encounter where countless seeds of hope are sown.

Saint Patrick’s is a beautiful and historic church, located in Belfast’s cultural and social heartland, the Cathedral Quarter. Right beside the new Ulster University Belfast campus.

Lectio Divina at the BJC - Tuesdays @ 7.30pm

Whether you’re experienced with Lectio Divina or exploring it for the first time, you’re warmly invited to join us

Tea and coffee is served from 7.00pm on Tuesdays at the Belfast Jesuit Centre and Lectio Divina begins at 7.30pm sharp!

Jesuit Centre Zoom Book Club - Wednesdays @ 7pm

On Wednesday 14th January, at 7.00pm, our online BJC Book Club will begin a new read: The Cross and the Olive Tree: Cultivating Palestinian Theology amid Gaza. Edited by brothers John and Samuel Munayer, this profound and timely work contains essays from eight Palestinian Christian theologians whose voices are urgently needed in this moment.

This book emerges from a land marked by deep beauty and deep suffering. The authors write from within the lived reality of ongoing conflict, displacement, and systemic injustice; yet their theology is anything but despairing. Instead, they offer a faith forged in the crucible of endurance, community, and steadfast hope. Their reflections invite us to listen closely to those who live the Gospel in places where the cost of discipleship is tangible.

Drawing on the lived theology of grandmothers, the wisdom of ancient liturgies, and the courage of contemporary resistance, these theologians hold together the cross and the olive tree; symbols of suffering and rootedness, of sacrifice and belonging. Their work is grounded in solid, rigorous Christian theology, shaped by scripture, sacrament, and the long tradition of the Church in the Holy Land.

This is not simply a book about geopolitics. It is a book about faithfulness.
About how Christians imagine God, justice, and reconciliation when the world around them is fractured.
About how hope is sustained when peace feels distant.
About how liberation is understood not as ideology, but as a lived theological conviction.

For anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of global Christianity, to pray more honestly for peace, or to engage with voices too often unheard, this book will be a rich companion.

We look forward to reading, reflecting, and learning together.
